Windows Server Essentials (formerly known as Windows Small Business Server or SBS) is an integrated server suite from Microsoft, designed for running network infrastructure of small and midsize businesses having no more than 25 users or 50 devices. With Windows Server 2012, Microsoft started with developing Essentials edition, and latest version is Windows Server 2016 Essentials.

Hardware prerequisites and installation process is same as all other Windows Server 2016 edition, but post-configuration tasks are different than Standard or Datacenter edition. In this post, I will show you how to configure Windows Server Essentials 2016.

As i said, installation process is pretty simple. Just follow wizard 🙂



If you didn’t forget, Windows Server Essentials is replacement for Windows SBS, and easiest way for configuring is wizard. You need to enter all important information, company information, domain name, server name, admin account and password, and wizard will complete installation. Please notice, IP address must be set manually, because you will not be asked for IP configuration in wizard.



Now, you can start to use Windows Server 2016 – Essentials edition.
